Glass art – objects and panels

Delicate as a whisper in Pâte de Verre, or as a distinctive work of art

Glass art – a wealth of techniques and endless possibilities

My glass objects, jewellery, pictures and even my Lieblingsfüße™ are made using a variety of techniques, or a combination of them.

Glass is a very demanding material and leaves no room for error.

That is why a thorough understanding of the challenges of working with glass artistically is essential. Even so, there are often surprises when the kiln is opened.

Glass's “stubbornness” in the heat of the kiln often leads to exciting results and entirely new directions in my artistic practice.

“The work emerges from the work”—sometimes quite literally.

Pâte de Verre means “glass paste”. Fine glass granules are made into a paste and applied to a mould. This technique is used to create delicate, fragile pieces such as the glass panels.

With kiln casting the glass is heated until it flows into a mould made of plaster and grog, where it solidifies. The baby footprints, penguins and larger objects are made using this technique.

Fusing fuses multiple layers of glass together. It is a very popular technique, offering endless design possibilities. Bowls and similar pieces are often made this way.
